Ten Playable Races, Two Factions

Orcs and elves don't fight alone: the Undead, Gargoyles, Crowfolk, Tigerfolk, Mantis and Tauros fight beside them. Meet every race in Valdoria, its side, its racial and passives, and how to get it.

Looking for an MMORPG with unique races? In Valdoria Online you can play as a gargoyle, a crow, a mantis or one of the undead, as well as an orc or an elf: ten playable races split between two warring factions, and every one of them plays all five classes. Here's each race with its side, its active racial, its passives and how to get it.

The Free Races: Orcs and Elves

Orcs and Elves are the races every player starts with, and they cost nothing. The orc capital is Redfang Bastion and the elf capital is Moonveil Sanctuary; between the two realms lies a frontier at war, which we cover in orcs vs elves.

With the Orcs: Undead, Gargoyles and Crowfolk

Three optional races fight for the Orcs. They start at level 1 in Redfang Bastion and play the same five classes: Warrior, Bulwark, Stalker, Priest and Warlock.

Undead

“The orcs don't bury their warriors: they call them back.” This undead race keeps the Orc racial and one of the Orc passives; the other helps them resist crowd control from other players.

Gargoyles

“For a thousand years they kept watch from the ledges. Now they've come down.” If you want to play as a gargoyle, here's a race built to endure.

Crowfolk

“Wherever there's a battle, they get there first.” Every blow they land gives them back a little health.

With the Elves: Tigerfolk, Mantis and Tauros

Three more optional races fight for the Elves. They start at level 1 in Moonveil Sanctuary and play the five elf classes: Sentinel, Lunar Arcanist, Stalker, Druid and Mage.

Tigerfolk

“The forest had guardians long before it had elves.” This tiger race inherits the Elves' racial and dodge, and adds speed.

Mantis

“Still as a leaf. Until they're not.” Playing as a mantis means choosing offense: theirs is the only offensive racial on the Elf side.

Tauros

“The grasslands have chosen a side too.” Hulking and hard to stop.

Earned at Level 60: Veteran Orcs and Veteran Elves

Two races aren't for sale: they're earned. Your account earns the Veteran Orcs, forever, when any of your characters in the Orc faction reaches level 60, whatever its race; the Veteran Elves work the same way in the Elf faction. Then you choose the race in the RACE row on the character screen.

Veteran Orcs

“Their armor isn't forged or bought: it's hunted.” Bone armor and skulls, and the Orc racials: Clan Fury, War Blood and Orcish Grit.

Veteran Elves

“The moon recognizes those who have made it to the end.” Blue and silver armor with crescent moons, and the Elf racials: Moon's Gift, Elven Agility and Lunar Spirit.

Racial Abilities and Passives: Equal Value for All

Every active racial lasts 15 seconds, has a two-minute cooldown and doesn't trigger the global cooldown. There are two types:

Each side has both types: with the Orcs, the Gargoyles bring the defensive one; with the Elves, the Mantis bring the offensive one. Passives are small tweaks, from 1% to 10%, except Cold Flesh's 25%.

No race is stronger: the racials of the paid races are worth the same as the Orc and Elf ones, and their characters have the same classes, abilities, talents, weapons, armor and quests. A race doesn't change your current characters, which stay exactly as they are, and it doesn't give levels, gear or items: it's five new characters, one per class. We cover it in depth in our no pay-to-win guide.

The paid races are coming to Steam as one-time-purchase DLC, per account and forever; in the meantime, you can see them in the Store.

Try them for free in the Training Grounds

Before you decide, you can play any paid race, at any level, in the Training Grounds on the main menu. You pick the race, class, talent tree, level and gear for yourself and your opponent, then fight the AI or a friend. Nothing that happens there touches your character.

  3. Follow the beginner's guide and, if you're torn between classes, see which class to play.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many races are there in Valdoria?

Ten, five per faction. With the Orcs: Orcs, Undead, Gargoyles, Crowfolk and Veteran Orcs. With the Elves: Elves, Tigerfolk, Mantis, Tauros and Veteran Elves.

Which races are free?

Orcs and Elves. You don't pay for the Veteran Orcs and Veteran Elves either: they're earned at level 60. The other six are optional and coming to Steam as DLC.

How do I unlock the Veteran Orcs and Veteran Elves?

Reach level 60 with any character of their faction, whatever its race. The race stays on your account forever.

Do races change my stats?

A little, through their racial and passives: +1% health or dodge, for example. No race is stronger than another.

Can I try the paid races before getting them?

Yes, for free and at any level, in the Training Grounds on the main menu.

Can I change the race of an existing character?

A new race isn't a skin or a race change: it's five new characters, one per class. Your current characters stay exactly as they are.
