Truly Free: The Whole Game, from Level 1 to 60

Valdoria has no level-capped trial and no zones reserved for paying players. The whole game is free: both factions, the five classes on each side, all 98 quests, the dungeon, the castle, the six caves, the six world bosses, PvP and both game modes. Reaching level 60 won't cost you a thing.

There's no monthly fee, no loot boxes and no premium currency either: your gear comes from quests, bosses and trading. The only things for sale are optional races, and we explain how they work below.

In English from Start to Finish (and in Spanish, Too)

Valdoria speaks two languages. The whole game is in English: menus, windows, quests, items, abilities and messages. It's also fully in Spanish, so if you want to practice your Spanish or you play with people from other countries, switch languages with the Language button in the main menu or the Esc window, without downloading anything else.

Each player also gets the world in their own language: you can play in English while your friend plays in Spanish, and each of you sees what's going on around you in your own. The website is in both languages too, including its database of items, abilities, creatures and quests.

What Awaits You: Two Factions, Ten Races and Five Classes

First, you pick a side. Orcs start in Redfang Bastion, in the Fang Moors; elves start in Moonveil Sanctuary, in the heart of Moonwood. Between the two realms lies the Twin Roads Frontier, with Crossway as its neutral town. For an in-depth look at each side, see orcs vs. elves.

Each faction has five races: the Orcs or the Elves, which are free; three paid races per side (Undead, Gargoyles and Crowfolk with the Orcs; Tigerfolk, Mantis and Tauros with the Elves); and the Veteran Orcs or the Veteran Elves, which you earn by playing. All of them share the same five classes:

Each class has 21 talents in three trees, and your account keeps one character for each class of every race you own, so you can try them all. If you can't decide, see which class to play.

Quests, a Dungeon, a Castle and Six World Bosses

Here, leveling up means traveling. You follow the golden “!” in every town, from your first gnoll to the level 60 Ancient Wyrm, through 98 quests tracked in your quest log, earning experience, gold and gear for your class. The world measures 1,400 by 800 meters, has more than eighty locations, and you can cross it on foot, in Wolf Form from level 10 or through nineteen runestone portals.

For group play, there's the Dusk Fortress, a five-player dungeon with eleven chambers on three levels, three bosses and need-or-greed loot; Windrock Castle, three floors and a crypt with no loading screens; and six caves, each with a boss waiting at the end.

Then there are the six world bosses, for groups from both sides: the Magma Giant and the Scaleborn on the frontier, the Colossus of the Gales, Morvhal on the Frozen Lake, Kaldrath on his throne and Vorathar, the Dusk, an eighteen-meter dragon built for five or six level 60 players in the best gear. It's all in dungeons and world bosses.

Between adventures, there's a bank, mail, trading and an auction house shared by both factions, plus five-player groups, guilds and a friends list. The community has public profiles and a forum.

PvP on the Frontier and Hardcore Mode

On the Twin Roads Frontier, PvP rules: you turn on faction combat and earn honor in the disputed territory. Two characters more than five levels apart can't attack each other, so no one can make a habit of ganking newcomers. To practice risk-free, the Training Grounds let you duel with any race, class and level, against the AI or against a friend. There's more in our PvP MMORPG guide.

You also choose between two modes, each with its own world. Original Mode is the classic game. In Hardcore Mode you get one life: if you fall, you lose the character and all their progress, and whoever beats you has one minute to take your gear, your bag and your gold. The fallen are remembered in the Hall of the Fallen, and you'll find the rules in our hardcore MMORPG guide.

What You Pay For: No Subscription and No Pay to Win

The only things Valdoria sells are six optional races, three per side. Each one is a one-time purchase per account that's yours forever, and adds five new characters to your account, one per class, starting at level 1. They're coming to Steam as DLC; the store shows all six.

These races don't give you levels, gear or items: they share classes, abilities, talents and gear with the Orcs and Elves, and their racials are worth the same. You can try them for free in the Training Grounds before you decide. And the Veteran Orcs and Veteran Elves aren't for sale: you earn them by reaching level 60 with any character of their faction. You'll find all the details in our no pay-to-win MMORPG guide.

What You Need to Play

Not much: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and a DirectX 12 graphics card. Those are the only requirements. The first download is about 1.9 GB and the installed game takes up about 2.3 GB, which is small for a 3D online RPG. After that, the launcher only downloads what changes in each version.

For now, Valdoria is Windows-only, and its Steam page is in preparation. You'll find step-by-step instructions on the download page.

Get Started in Three Steps

  1. Download the launcher from the download section and unzip it into a folder.
  2. Open Jugar.cmd. The first time, it downloads the game; after that, only what changes. If Windows warns you about an unrecognized app, click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
  3. Click Play, choose your race and class, and log in with your account, which you can create on the website or right in the game.

Once you're in, the beginner's guide will walk you through your first steps.
