A Brand-New MMORPG, Old-School to the Core

Quests marked with a golden “!”, classes with talent trees, five-player groups, a dungeon and world bosses, from level 1 to 60. Valdoria Online brings back the best of the online RPGs we grew up with, in a brand-new world that's free on PC.

Remember when leveling up in an MMORPG felt like a journey? Someone by a campfire handed you a quest, sent you to the other side of the map, and if you wanted the boss at the bottom of the cave, you had to find a group. Valdoria, the orcs vs. elves MMORPG, was built on that idea: an old-school fantasy online RPG, but brand new, free, and playable in English and Spanish.

What We Loved About Old-School MMORPGs

An old-school MMORPG didn't hand you anything: you picked a side and a class, left the capital in starter gear, and every level took a little longer than the last. Valdoria sticks to that formula:

It isn't an old game brought back to life: it's an original game, built with Unreal Engine, now at version 0.35.0 and still growing.

Level 1 to 60, Following the Golden “!”

In Valdoria you level up the old-school way: by following the golden “!” in every city. There are 98 quests with a quest log, from the first gnoll to the level 60 ancient wyrm; every one of them pays experience and gold, and most also reward a piece of gear for your class.

Orcs start with “Plague on the Plains”: take down six gnolls prowling outside the bastion gate. Elves start with “Satyrs in the Glades”. After that there's a bit of everything: defeating creatures, collecting what they drop, gathering herbs and ore, delivering an order to Crossway or exploring new places.

Many of them form chains: the longest starts with “Beyond the Peaks” and, nine quests later, ends with “The Dusk”, face to face with the dragon Vorathar. There are 19 Orc-only quests, 19 Elf-only quests and 60 for both sides; you can browse them all in the database.

Classes with Clear Roles and Three Talent Trees

Each faction has five classes, each with its own role and resource: the tank and the warrior fight with rage, the rogue with energy, and the healer and the caster with mana. The Orcs call them Bulwark, Warrior, Stalker, Priest and Warlock; the Elves call them Sentinel, Lunar Arcanist, Stalker, Druid and Mage.

Abilities arrive gradually, from level 1 to 48: the Bulwark learns Intercept at 10, the Stalker can use Stealth from level 4, and the Mage learns Polymorph at 10. On top of that you get your race's racial, like the Orcs' Clan Fury.

Then there are the talents: 21 per class, in three trees of seven. The warrior picks from Steel, Impetus and Battle, and the Battle tree holds Thundering Charge, which makes Charge stun for 1.5 seconds instead of one. Your account keeps one character for each class of every race you have, so you can try them all; if you can't decide, see which class to play.

Five-Player Groups and a Real Dungeon

Valdoria is meant to be played with other people: general and trade chat, whispers, a friends list, guilds and five-player groups that share experience. And there's content that calls for that group:

The great hall of Windrock Castle: long tables, a red carpet and the empty throne at the far end

The bridge over the lava river in the Dusk Fortress, between pillars with braziers

A Player Economy: Bank, Mail and Auction House

Gold is earned by playing and changes hands between players: there's a bank, face-to-face trading, mail with gold and items, and an auction house shared by both factions, so an orc can sell their loot to an elf.

Gear works the old-school way too: sixteen slots, armor for each class, durability and repairs, and merchants in every city. Each class wields its own weapon, with eight models per type depending on quality and level, and you see it in your hand exactly as it is; rare and epic ones even glow.

A World to Explore, Zone by Zone

The map measures 1,400 by 800 meters and is laid out by level: orcs start in the Fang Moors and elves in Moonwood (levels 1–15), both sides fight over the Twin Roads Frontier (6–16), and the road goes on through the Eastern Lands (16–35) all the way to Peaks and Ash (36–60). Along the way there are more than eighty places to discover.

A day in Valdoria lasts 48 minutes. From level 10 you can travel in wolf form, and nineteen runestone portals awaken as you reach them: from any one you've discovered, you can travel to the others in five seconds. And the inns in Crossway, Windharbor and the Dawn Refuge have a fireplace and beds where you can rest.

No Subscription, No Pay to Win

Valdoria is free from level 1 to 60, in both of its modes: no subscription, no loot boxes and no premium currency. The only paid content is six optional races, coming to Steam as DLC, and they give no levels, gear or items: their characters start at level 1, with the same classes and racials of equal value to the Orcs' and Elves'. Two more, the Veteran Orcs and the Veteran Elves, are earned by reaching level 60. You'll find all the details in our no pay-to-win MMORPG guide and in the store.

Old-School, but New: Updates in Every Version

The old-school part is how it plays; the game itself is modern and changes often. The latest versions alone have brought:

Follow them in the news, talk about them in the community and, if you want a real challenge, try Hardcore Mode.
